<hi style=afpcap>The Bell YFM-1 Airacuda was the only aircraft produced in the Fighter, Multiplace category, as the Lockheed FM-2 was nothing more than a design study. The prototype YFM-1 was a tail wheel design with a crew of five including two gunners who were located in the forward section of the engine nacelles.The YFM-1 was ordered in 1936 and first flew in September 1937. Nine further YFM-1s were funded in 1938, these fitted with heavier armament and bomb racks. During the same year three YFM-1As were delivered in 1940, which differed from earlier versions with a tricycle undercarriage.</hi>
